Duct Cleaning in Miami

4.9 stars, 73 reviews via Google

PRT Cool Service Inc is a Miami air conditioning repair company that also handles plumbing, duct cleaning, and general contracting, open until 10 PM on weekdays near Miami Beach, Coral Gables, and Hialeah.

About PRT Cool Service Inc

A phone line that stays open until 10 PM on weeknights sets PRT Cool Service Inc apart from many office-hours-only contractors in this directory. The Miami business, based on SW 37th Terrace, is listed under air conditioning repair service with additional subtypes covering air duct cleaning, general contracting, HVAC contracting, mechanical contracting, and plumbing, a wider trade mix than a typical single-focus AC company. That pairing of plumbing and air conditioning work is a practical one in South Florida homes, where condensate drain lines sit at the intersection of both trades and where a single service call can sometimes resolve issues that would otherwise need two separate visits.

The company's hours run 8 AM to 10 PM Monday through Friday, with a shorter Saturday window from 8 AM to 1 PM and Sunday closed, giving it later evening availability than most weekday competitors even without a full 24-hour schedule. Operating in the 33155 zip code, PRT Cool Service Inc is positioned to reach Miami Beach, Coral Gables, and Hialeah in addition to the surrounding Miami neighborhoods. General and mechanical contractor status also suggests the business can take on larger jobs tied to a home's mechanical systems beyond a single repair visit, such as ductwork changes or equipment replacement that touches more than the air conditioner alone.

Homeowners across Miami, Miami Beach, Coral Gables, or Hialeah looking for evening availability or a contractor that covers plumbing alongside AC work can reach the company by phone at (305) 261-2575 or through its website, prtcoolservice.com.

UPDATE 8/19- 8/29: our bill down $200 this month

I've known the owner, Raphael, for probably 15 years, and he has to be one of the most professional, honest, and affordable tradesmen I've ever dealt with.

He used to work on my mom's A/C units, and now he works on mine. He's the only person I call for A/C or water-heater issues.

In Florida, air conditioning isn't a luxury, it's a necessity. When your A/C goes out in August, you need someone you can trust to show up, tell you the truth, and get the job done right. That's why I wouldn't use anybody else. He genuinely cares about his customers and isn't happy until you're happy.

Since the beginning of this year, our electric bill had been getting ridiculous. We went from around $300 a month last year to over $500 starting in March, and this month we were approaching $600. Our old A/C was basically running 24/7 trying to keep up.
Raphael just upgraded us from the home's original system, nearly 30 years old, to the 17 SEER2, two-stage, 5-ton beast you see in the photos, with a 10-year warranty.

I'm not going to post exactly what he charged me, but I checked his quote against three separate sources, and the price was insanely good.

This wasn't a planned replacement. On Sunday, August 16, our old unit started leaking through the ceiling after freezing and thawing multiple times over the weekend. We had no idea until water started dripping onto our couch.

Raphael was at the house Monday morning at 8:00. We went back and forth over variable speed versus two-stage and what made the most sense. I had a quote by that afternoon.
By Wednesday, August 19, he and his awesome crew had the new system installed and running, along with everything else, in about seven hours.

And it wasn't just swapping an A/C unit.
He ran a new thermostat wire from the second floor to the ground through exterior conduit, sealed it at the soffit, and painted it to match the house. He also corrected the compressor breaker. There was a 70-amp breaker where there should have been a 50-amp breaker. Raphael had pointed this out years ago, but since it didn't seem to be causing a problem, I told him to leave it alone.

He also installed a drain pan under the air handler, something the original never had, and added two overflow switches so a drainage problem won't dump water into the subfloor and ceiling again.

But why do I say Raphael actually cares about his customers?

I'll give you two examples.

About two years ago, that same old unit had a wire make contact with a copper refrigerant line. It got hot enough to burn through the insulation, damage the copper, and vent all of our R-22 refrigerant, which is definitely not cheap.

Raphael came to our house on a Sunday afternoon. His company wasn't even open, and by the time he finished it was dark outside. He repaired and welded the copper line and refilled the system with R-22.

On a Sunday.

After hours.

And he only charged me for the refrigerant.

Another time, about four years ago, the original compressor died. The system was so old Raphael couldn't find the correct replacement. He remembered he might have a compatible compressor in his own storage, so he left, found it, came back, installed it, and refilled the system.

Again, on a weekend, at night.

He only charged me for the labor and refrigerant.

Raphael doesn't try to upsell you. He tells you what he genuinely thinks you need. If you want something different or more, he's happy to give you those options, but he isn't going to tell you that you "need" something just to make the invoice bigger.

In roughly 15 years of dealing with him, his recommendations have consistently been accurate and reasonable. He's earned my trust to the point that when he tells me something needs to be done, I don't wonder if he's trying to sell me something.

There's an old saying: Good, affordable, or fast, pick two.
With PRT Cooling, you don't have to.

They're affordable, they do outstanding work, they get it done quickly, and most importantly, they don't cut corners.

After 15 years, I wouldn't call anyone else.

I ran out of space above so this is a conti nation of my prior review. Actually it's more of an update.

Before our unit was set at 70 and ran all day. Our new unit?

76 with the new unit feels like 70 on the old one. I think it kicked on a total of 3 or 4 times yesterday and one time was because I did it on purpose.

If your reading this instead of my other review go read that one.

Most critical

Extremely Disappointed, Unprofessional and Overpriced

I’ve been managing properties for over 13 years and have worked with many A/C companies, but I’ve never encountered such unprofessionalism as I did with this one.

We had an issue with the A/C unit of an apartment, and the tenant contacted this company. They came out, performed an assessment, and supposedly fixed the problem, charging $395 (including the service call). Just five hours later, the A/C stopped working again.

The technician, Rafael, returned the next day and claimed the issue was actually something else, now requiring an additional $1,600 to repair. When we called to ask why the original diagnosis failed to identify the real problem, Rafael became extremely rude and dismissive. Instead of addressing the question, he kept deflecting, saying he “saved us money” because the tenants didn’t have to stay in a hotel, even though they spent the night without air conditioning. That’s not his place to decide, nor did it answer our concerns.

He also gave vague analogies about doctors needing multiple scans to reach a diagnosis, which only emphasized his inability to assess the issue correctly from the beginning. Even worse, he couldn’t guarantee the new $1,600 fix would solve the problem, raising serious concerns about the reliability and transparency of his service.

In addition, the $300+ assessment fee is excessive, especially when most reputable companies apply that cost toward the repair if you proceed with their service. In this case, it was charged separately and non-refundable.

Finally, Rafael’s behavior during the call was disrespectful and unprofessional, despite the fact that we made it clear from the beginning that we wanted to hear his side of the story to better understand the situation. Instead of explaining things clearly, he became defensive, argumentative, and condescending.

I genuinely don’t understand how this company has high ratings. Our experience was frustrating, overpriced, and unresolved. I would absolutely not recommend this company to anyone looking for reliable, professional HVAC service.

➡️ I just read your response. Let’s start with the basics: WE ARE YOUR CLIENTS. Your company issued the invoice under the property owner’s name, not the tenant’s and we are the ones who authorized and paid for your services. Whether the tenant facilitated the Zelle transfer is irrelevant. Claiming otherwise is not only false, but an attempt to deflect responsibility.

Your technician came out on Friday, diagnosed the problem, and charged $395 for what he claimed was the necessary repair. Five hours later, the A/C stopped working again. He returned on Saturday without charge, as he should have and then gave us a completely different diagnosis, along with a new quote of nearly $1,600. That’s not a “secondary issue.” That’s a misdiagnosis.

If the unit was in such poor condition that further issues were likely, that should have been communicated clearly during the first visit. It wasn’t. There was no mention that the unit might fail again, nor any suggestion to consider replacement. Don’t shift the narrative now to justify what was clearly poor service.

Also, let’s be honest this was not an emergency. The tenant contacted you on Thursday, and your technician came on Friday during regular hours. There was no after-hours urgency or weekend surcharge warranted here.

And since you mentioned professionalism: the way your technician, Rafael, handled my phone call was anything but. I calmly asked for clarification, and instead I was met with a defensive, condescending tone. He couldn’t explain how he missed the obstruction in the TXV valve, but somehow felt entitled to tell me that we “didn’t lose any money” because the tenants slept there, without A/C.

You also referenced “limited access to decision-makers.” Let me be clear: I AM THE DECISION MAKER, and I approved the payment. I was fully available, and your technician made no attempt to involve me until I personally reached out, after the service failed.

Frequently asked questions about PRT Cool Service Inc

How late is PRT Cool Service Inc open on weekdays?

The company's listed hours run from 8 AM to 10 PM Monday through Friday, later into the evening than many AC companies in this directory, with a shorter Saturday window from 8 AM to 1 PM and Sunday closed.

Does PRT Cool Service Inc do more than air conditioning repair?

Yes. Its listing includes general contracting, mechanical contracting, and plumbing alongside air conditioning repair and air duct cleaning, so the company can address a wider range of home systems work than a single-trade AC repair shop.

Why would an AC company also handle plumbing?

Condensate drain lines, which carry moisture away from an air conditioning system, sit at the intersection of plumbing and HVAC work, so a company covering both trades can sometimes resolve a drainage-related cooling issue in a single visit rather than needing a separate plumber.

What areas does PRT Cool Service Inc serve from its Miami location?

Based on SW 37th Terrace in the 33155 zip code, the company is positioned to reach Miami Beach, Coral Gables, and Hialeah along with the surrounding Miami neighborhoods, and can be reached at (305) 261-2575 to confirm service to a specific address.
