I contacted UrbanChill on 6/27/2025 to service my A/C, and they sent a third-party technician from Southern Mechanical Contractors (SMC). The tech told me the unit had an unrepairable freon leak and quoted me $525 just to refill the freon. I paid on the spot and was told I’d get both an invoice and a quote for full unit replacement, neither of which I ever received.
The next day, I had a different company come out, and they fixed the leak for $135, no replacement needed. So not only was the diagnosis from SMC inaccurate, but the pricing was also excessive.I called SMC multiple times to get my invoice and the promised replacement quote, no response. When I called UrbanChill to report the issue, they admitted they had sent SMC but said there wasn't much they could do, which is extremely disappointing. If UrbanChill is going to send third-party contractors, they should stand behind them and ensure customers are treated fairly.
Bottom line: I was misled, overcharged, and ignored by the contractor UrbanChill sent, and UrbanChill did nothing to help resolve the situation. I won't be using them again, and I wouldn’t recommend them to anyone.
